Bright Angel to Colorado RiverSouth Rim Near Bright Angel Lodge7.7 mi one wayStrenuousSee Bright Angel to Phantom Ranch. Not really a destination but certainly a milestone after you've been descending for hours. There's nothing like that first view from near-river level!
Bright Angel to Indian GardensSouth Rim Near Bright Angel Lodge4.5 mi one wayStrenuousSee Bright Angel to Phantom Ranch. Indian Gardens is a great destination or transition point. A nice grove of trees provides welcome shade. Rest and fuel up for the climb out or the remainder of your hike.
Bright Angel to Phantom RanchSouth Rim Near Bright Angel Lodge9.8 mi one wayStrenuousThe most popular trail in the park and the less difficult of the 2 corridor trails to use coming out of the canyon from the bottom. Do not be discouraged by the trail's popularity, fantastic views all the way down.
Bright Angel to Plateau PointSouth RimNear Bright Angel Lodge6 mi one wayStrenuousSee Bright Angel to Phantom Ranch. Pick up this trail at the Indian Gardens junction. Nice flat hike to tremendous overlook down to the Colorado River.
Bright Angel to Rest HouseSouth Rim Near Bright Angel Lodge3 mi one wayStrenuousSee Bright Angel to Phantom Ranch. A good test for first timers or those unsure of their abilities. After all, shouldn't everyone leave the rim and experience the canyone from inside?
Grandview to Horseshoe MesaSouth Rim Grandview Point3 mi one wayModerateDesolate compared to the corridor trails, the Grandview provides some very different, and wonderful, views of the canyon. Though not maintained, the trail is in pretty good shape.
North Kaibab to Cottonwood CampNorth Rim 2 miles north of Grand Canyon Lodge7 mi one wayStrenuousSee North Kaibab to Phantom Ranch. The perfect spot for camping over might and breaking the hike into 2 days, especially on the way up.
North Kaibab to Phantom RanchNorth Rim 2 miles north of Grand Canyon Lodge14 mi one wayStrenuousA looong day no matter how you cut it. Top section to Roaring Springs is the steepest and most difficult. But did I mention incredible views and a wonderful, fulfilling hike? And not nearly as crowded as the South Rim.
North Kaibab to Ribbon FallsNorth Rim 2 miles north of Grand Canyon Lodge8.4 mi one wayStrenousSee North Kaibab to Phantom Ranch. A must see if you do the north side, especially in the middle of summer - you'll appreciate the opportunity to cool off!
North Kaibab to Roaring SpringsNorth Rim 2 miles north of Grand Canyon Lodge4.7 mi one wayStrenousSee North Kaibab to Phantom Ranch. Marked by the water pumping station and a caretaker's house, the steepest part of the trail is behind you or ahead, depending on which way you're headed.
Rim TrailSouth RimYavapai Point9.5 mi one wayEasyGet lots of great views from the top, passing various view points along the way, including Grandeur Point, Visitor Center, Bright Angel Trailhead, Trailview Overlook, Maricopa Point, Powell Point, Hopi Point, Mohave Point, The Abyss, Pima Point and Hermit's Rest
South Kaibab to Cedar RidgeSouth Rim Yaki Point1.5 mi one wayStrenuousSee South Kaibab to Phantom Ranch. This short but tiring hike will give you a great introduction to the relentless grade and spectacular beauty of this trail.
South Kaibab to Colorado RiverSouth Rim Yaki Point6.2 mi one wayStrenuousSee South Kaibab to Phantom Ranch. Reach this point and consider yourself at the bottom. A short walk gets you to Bright Angel Campground and, a little further, to Phantom Ranch.
South Kaibab to Phantom RanchSouth Rim Yaki Point7 mi one wayStrenuousThe less forgiving of the 2 corridor trails, the South Kaibab has perhaps better views than the Bright Angel. No shade and a steeper grade make this an exhausting trail, but the views and experience are well worth it.
South Kaibab to Tonto JunctionSouth Rim Yaki Point4.5 mi one wayStrenuousSee South Kaibab to Phantom Ranch. If you want to pick up the Tonto Trail, here it is.
Tonto between Indian Gardens and South KaibabIndian Gardens or South Kaibab / Tonto junction4 mi one wayModerateA popular route between the 2 corridor trails. No elevation gain or loss to speak off, which is very nice after beating yourself up getting to this point. And, the views and different experience than the corridors are enjoyable.
Widforss TrailNorth Entrance to sign for Widforss Point5 mi one wayModerateGreat hike that rewards with some awesome views along the way and at Widforss Point
